MISSIONS OF THE MONTH
JOHN & GWEN HASPELS....Praise that the young people have a hunger for the Lord. The Ethiopian Church which has been fractured for many years is reconciling and becoming strong. Praise that although funding is decreasing and expenses are increasing, they have met budget for the year. The present phase of the Suri Project will end in less than a year. Some parts will be phased out or turned over to the government. Be in prayer for the results of the evaluations by the government and the church which will determine the future course of events.
PRESBYTERIAN FRONTIER FELLOWSHIP:
"Repentance for forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem." Luke 24:47
No one is exempt from the necessity of repenting of his or her sins in order to find forgiveness. Nor is any disciple of Jesus excluded from the wonderful responsibility of proclaiming His Name to all nations. If all Christians took this obligation more seriously, the nations would quickly hear of the urgent necessity of repentance and the wonderful availability of eternal life. All believer are "witnesses of these things". Does your witness extend to the nations? Are you praying daily for the world's unreached peoples? Pray that we will exalt his Name among the nations.
Denise Sciuto of Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship continues to share a Frontier Vision with many churches here in Western Pa. PFF's goal is to turn the gospel loose in every culture. Please pray that the Lord will continue to show PFF where He is working and how they can connect. Also help Denise as she meets with different congregations. Help her to be able to share God's mission to the unreached people of the world with Presbyterians here in the U.S. Please pray for the partners overseas that they may be able to create indigenous churches that in turn, continue to spread the good news of Jesus to their neighbors.
MALAWI MISSION FUND
Malawi is a landlocked country and about the size of Pennsylvania, in southeastern Africa. Missionary activity there goes back to the time of David Livingston. About 25% of the population is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. Bethel's connection began with Rev. Joe Hopkins. He taught there and also served as an associate pastor from q1988 to q1992. The Malawi Mission Fund is an out growth of this service. Rev. Hopkins stays in touch with friends and former seminary students who are now serving as pastors and evangelists. He helps facilitate their work with help toward school fees, materials for churches and manses and with help toward bicycles and used motor bikes for transportation. Pray for Rev. Hopkins to have wisdom to reach the most needed areas.
