MISSIONS OF THE MONTH

Denise Scuito – Local representative for Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship
Denise says: I thank God for churches like Bethel with whom I am partnering and for God’s work among the unreached children. I am thankful that schools have reopened in Darfur. I ask for guidance to show how to serve our partners in Darfur.

PRESBYTERIAN FRONTIER FELLOWSHIP….
For Every People: An Indigenous Church
For Every Church: A Mission Vision
That is the motto of PFF. Pray for Rev. Bill Young, Executive Director, at the home office in Minnesota, as he encourages and directs the PFF Staff throughout the US. One of his many Responsibilities is keeping frontier mission a priority within the PC(USA). May we, the people of Bethel, pray diligently for the many people groups of the world that have not yet been told about Jesus. Pray that our mission budget will be met so the pledge we made to PFF will not be shorted.

JOHN & GWEN HASPELS…..The Haspels have returned to Ethiopia for 7 months before home assignment starts in July 2010. Between now and then, they have their evaluation and impact assessment. They know their planning for the next three years will require quite a bit of downsizing. God has encouraged in so many ways with three partner churches and gifts used to increase the available medical help. They ask for prayers for wisdom and peace for the coming months. That God will help them stand on the Word already given so they can hear the next step to take. “God is not done with us yet and certainly not done with the Suri. Blessed be His name
!”

NEW STUDY WITH PASTOR TIPPIN
J.I. PACKERS BOOK ~ KNOWING GOD
From Amazon.com review.
“In 1973 Knowing God has become a contemporary classic by creating “small studies out of great subjects”. Each chapter is so specific in focus (covering topics such as the trinity, election, God’s wrath, and God’s sovereignty), that each succeeding chapter’s theology seems to rival the next, until one’s mind is so expanded that one’s entire view of God has changed”.
Knowing God is an introduction to theology aimed at the average Christian. Packer uses a study of the attributes of God as the central approach to help his readers know who God is. The study will meet on Sunday evenings at 6:30 at the manse for 11 weeks beginning on February 7. There will be required reading and workbook assignments that need to be completed before each group study. This is a small group study and the size of the group is limited to twelve. Please call the church secretary if attending by January 10, 2010.
