Blood drive at Bethel on May 11, 1-7 P.M.
We need help. First of all we need blood donors! To care for these donors, we need volunteers to take care of them. We would like to have 2 shifts of helpers; 12:30 – 3:30 and 3:00- 7:30. Youth this is an opportunity to get service hours if you are doing this toward high school requirements. Blood donors must be fed so we need 4 soup makers, a sandwich maker and cookies. Contact Lee Wagoner for kitchen duty, Betty Scott for the donation area or Gary Harman to volunteer.

BETHEL FLOTILLA
Memorial Day Monday, May 30th is the day for Bethel Flotilla! We're putting together a group of outdoor-loving folks into canoes or kayaks, and riding the Allegheny River from Tidioute to Tionesta, PA (about 2 hours from Bethel, northwest of the Allegheny National Forest). This is a 15-mile stretch on the river, which takes about 5-6 hours to complete for recreational-grade arms normal folk like us come with, so don't worry: it's not like Iron Man marathons and such. There's a Facebook event page set up, also you can always stop Mark or Angelo Sun and ask for details. Prices vary from $45 to $17 per vessel (not per person!), depending on your choice of 2-person canoe, 2-person kayak, single person kayak, or whether you'll be using your own gear. Families are able to ride the same canoe, as they are rated for up to 1,200 lbs. It's a beautiful, scenic ride down a quiet river, the perfect getaway for those who love to spend time outside enjoying nature and its beauty! Hope you can join us, let Angelo or Mark know!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL!!!!!
It’s that time again ~ sunshine, fun times and VBS!! Mark your calendar for the week of June 20th! Please be listening for God’s whisper as to where He wants you to serve during Bethel’s VBS this summer. Is it Crafts, Bible Story, Rec, Snacks, Prayer Warrior, Crew Leader, or something else? Please let Karen Beatty know how you might be able to help lead our young people during our “SONsurf Beach Bash”.

In the narthex on bulletin board and on table at back of sanctuary is a photo of the Bethel Church history book and a church collectible. If anyone is interested in purchasing either, see Nancy Gibson, Lloyd Raney, Betty Scott, or check with the church office. The book is $10.00 and the collectible is $12.00. The money received will go into the history fund

MISSIONS OF THE MONTH……….
CITY RESCUE MISSION…..Happy 100th Birthday!! Through the years we’ve grown and served thousands of people in distress. God has kept us going and we are grateful to Him and you, our friends who share a passion to help others. In 1910, Billy Sunday, the famous evangelist, led a crusade in New Castle that resulted in a great spiritual revival. Many who belong to the Personal Workers League were so influenced by Sunday’s testimony that they took action to start a rescue mission in New Castle. Mel Trotter, another famous evangelist, assisted Robert McKinney and the Personal Workers League to found the City Rescue Mission in November 1911.

JOHN & JOY HASPELS…..John & Joy Hapsels continue their ministry in Nairobi with Africa Inland Mission. The Turkana Bible project is still underway as Gabriel, their native friend, continues to distribute Bibles to the Turkana people. He has recently begun to use the Bible in mp3 format as well. They ask continued prayers for the Lord's guidance on how to prioritize what needs to be done in their ministry. Acacia and Charlie are probably going to be attending a boarding school at the Rift Valley Academy, please pray for guidance in this area.

HARMS/WYCLIFFE…..Wycliffe Bible Translators is the organization for whom Phill and Judy Harms work All who are with Wycliffe are doing and supporting Bible translations. Phill and Judy are scheduled to be in Columbia, S.A. now. They have been working on translations of Psalms and Proverbs into Epena. Also had been waiting on the finalization of I and II Samuel that they are planning to have published.
They appreciate Bethel's financial and prayer support of their Bible translation ministry. Their home when in the U.S. is in Carlinville, IL.
