MISSIONS OF THE MONTH
HOME EMERGENCY….. The Emergency Fund was established to help out Bethel Church families in times of need. It is held in strict confidence. Each emergency is handled on an individual basis. The deacons will also provide council and information regarding outside help.
GRACE MEMORIAL…..The month of December was spent in Salvador attending planned and emergency surgeries for Janet along with doing post op care for Nurse Maria Angelica's thyroid cancer. Maria Francisca, Alex's mother was hit by a bicyclist and ended up losing her sight after five hours of surgery. Wagner now has treated water, good electricity and almost all the roads are stone paved. Disease control has been progressing with government efforts to eradicate and prevent tropical infestations. The town now has a dentist, physiotherapist, psychologist, nutritionist and family doctors. If it weren't for the selfless work of countless Grace Memorial Hospital workers from past and present this progress wouldn't have happened. It is also with the prayers and funds from the church that Grace Memorial has progressed.
INGRID RENEAU…..Ingrid grew up in Belize, Central America (formerly British Honduras). She is a professor of education, having taught at several colleges in the U.S. In 2003 she began a transforming journey of living the scriptures. In a long roundabout life’s journey, she has been called to the Sudan. Ingrid is supported by our Shenango Presbytery and two other Presbyteries. She works with two Sudanese Presbyterian denominations and a group called “ACROSS” (Association of Christian Resource Organization Serving Sudan) Ingrid is working to build, expand and strengthen a church sponsored education system in the Sudan. Sudan has been in turmoil for many years due to wars and tribal conflicts. Ingrid is based in Nairobi, Kenya, but she works mainly in the Sudan, quite often in primitive conditions, to rebuild and improve this Christian based school system also, to train and encourage the native teachers. Pray for Ingrid amid the tribal fighting and strife; for her safety and encouragement, and remember her with your mission offerings. http://sudanseed.blogspot.com/
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Praying Wives will meet Tuesday, April 6 at 7:15PM at the home of Diane Harman. Since we pray over different topics each time we meet you do not need to be a regular attendee to join us. Please come if you would like to pray for your husband’s repentance and obedience.
NEW ELECTIVE STUDY: VICTORY IN JESUS!
-HIS RESURRECTION IS A CONTEST WON!
Therefore do Christians live in a time of peace, war or both?
Why do we need armor, to fight the good fight and have weapons of righteousness? The scriptures reveal our earthly and spiritual enemies, battles, resources and out comes. All are welcome. Study begins April 11 in the class room off the fellowship hall.
Mission Committee will meet Tuesday, April 13 at 7:30PM. It will be held in the library and we invite anyone interested in missions to join us.
One Great Hour of Sharing will be collected April 11th and 18th.
Bring fish banks on these dates and envelopes will be in the pews.
New Membership Class- Come and explore if God is calling you to become a member at Bethel. We will look at several areas of what it means to be a Christian and an active disciple of Jesus Christ as a member of Bethel. If you are not certain if you are ready to join Bethel this is the place to help you make that decision. We will meet for 6 weeks during the Sunday School hour in the Pastor’s office beginning April 18. Please call the church office to inform us of your intention to join us.
Caring for Bethel’s Flock of Children
Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly – not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. 1 Peter 5:2
Please call (724) 667-7008, email cmandrews4@verizon.net or see Cherie Andrews to sign up for your turn in the nursery to care for Bethel’s growing flock of children.
